Filter Bracket

My fuel system had about a million fittings and some ProLite hose between the tank and the fuel pump. The fittings did not sit flat and it didn't look good. I figured the cure would be to support the fuel filter to keep everything level. Click here to find out more about the Camaro's fuel system

I started by taking a piece of tubing with a 1" ID since the fuel filter was 1" in diameter. I cut the piece in half longways with a cut-off wheel (band saw was giving me trouble)

I then welded nuts (did not have small enough tubing to use for sleeves) to put a bolt though to clamp in order to hold the filter. I tried to keep the flat side of the nut to the main tubing for more surface area to weld. I used metal and razor blades to shim the nuts to be in the middle of the tubing

an upright tube would be needed to bring the clamp side of the bracket to the floor pan. I used a cutoff wheel and a grinder to shape the tube to fit. Then weld

Used SEM self etch primer first. I found the black does not stick to the metal very well it pulls together in chunks it seems no matter how light you spray it. I then used gloss black gloss Rustoleum

This is how it looks installed. Notice the sway bar links and fuel pump bracket I fabricated as well.
