Project Falcon
2004 Honda CBR 600RR
Long story
short, I bought this bike to use
for the track and ended up
liking my gray 1000RR for the
track better. I The original
plan was to paint the bike
silver and do military fighter
plane scheme, hence the name
Falcon. Below are the steps I
took prepping and painting the
parts. I ultimately got a set of
West Replica fairings for
resale, those photos are below
as well.

I know it looks
good in this photo, but
every panel had a scratch or
rash on it. |
Here's all the parts lined
up for prep |

Wow, sport
bikes look like Harleys when
they're naked! |
This soft block is the only
sanding tool I needed for
the whole process |
|

Simple dish
soap makes a great lubricant
for wetsanding |
This is how the
paint should look before
priming. This is a 400-grit
finish |

Any scratches
were sanded down until they
were smooth |
I hung each panel to spray
and dry so I wouldn't need
to touch the panels |

|
The first layer
is primer, I used Rustoleum
sandable primer |
This is Dupli-Color's
chrome paint. It's not
intended to be touched
like a bike is, but it
was worth a try. |
