This was my 3rd time to Laguna
Seca. Many things have changed with the car since last time. This was the most
successful track day so far but I have decided not to drive until I can get some
more negative camber in the front end. Please read below to find out about the
changes made, maybe some of these things apply to your own rides that have been
bothering you for days!
Exhaust
The first 2 times I had a
problem with the car being too
loud for the county's 92Db
limit. To attempt to solve this
problem I got 2 40 series race
mufflers from
Flowmaster and put them in,
in place of the crossover
section of my exhaust. This
helped a lot! I was able to keep
throttle open going up the hill
after turn 5.
Tires
The last half dozen or so track
days I have been in group 2. The
competing cars were always
faster than me and that gave me
no reason to move up to group 3.
This day was different. I
accredit this to the new tires
BFGoodrich R1's. INCREDIBLE.
STIs, Corvettes, M3s, Proshes,
EVOs were once waiting to pass
me this time I was waiting to
pass them. These tires can
change your trackday experience
more than you can predict. Also
when the car came loose it was
very predictable and easy to
deal with.
